Peter)
born 29 Jul 1813 in Allegany, Genesee, New York. Miss Joanna Belfry
was married to Judah DOAN of Sharon who had a farm
close to the village, which is two and a half miles south of
Queensville. He died at the residence of his eldest daughter, Mrs
Anderson at Ottawa, Iowa September 24, 1873. He was brought home and
interned in the Newmarket Cemetery. <Joanna is listed as being
alive at the time that the book was written in 1888> Joanna is listed
as being widowed, the age of 60 on the 1881 census. They had the
following children: (all born in York County, Ontario)
- Isabel DOAN married James ANDERSON - no children
- James H. DOAN - deceased prior to 1889
- Thomas B. DOAN married Rebecca GRAHAM
daughter of Jeremiah Graham of East Gwillimbury, York Co, Ontario,
Canada. Their issue: Seymour J Doan.
- Martha DOAN married John MURRELL.
Martha is listed as the age of 28 on the 1881 census, and John is
listed as the age of 30.
- Joanna DOAN married Rev. Thomas MANNING.
Joanna is listed as the age of 29 on the 1881 census, and Thomas is
listed as 28.
- Agnes DOAN - is listed at being the age of 26 during the 1881
census.
- Rebecca DOAN - is listed at being the age of 25 during the 1881
census.
- William H. DOAN - - is listed at being a farmer and the age of 23
during the 1881 census.
- Josephine DOAN - - is listed at being the age of 21 during the
1881 census. deceased prior to 1889
